John Of God in Atlanta

The Director of the Florida Intuitive Center and student Jack Butler made a recent pilgrimage to see John of God while he was in Atlanta, Georgia - a first trip for him to the USA. Thousands of people attended the event from all walks of life and many cultural backgrounds. John was thrilled to see so much diversity. I was hopeful as I noticed how everyone of faith and persuasion was accepted, and a truly peaceful future of the planet was demonstrated daily amongst the group attending. Every type of meditation I knew about was practiced side by side in harmony without competition. Each and every person was able to practice their meditation in the manner that they chose. It really didn't matter if you believed or not in spiritual healing...you got a healing.

Who is John of God? You may have seen the news stories about him on TV. I saw two; Primetime Live on ABC and one on PBS. Just Google John of God and you can visit a variety of websites describing him and his healings. But before he was known outside of Brazil, I first saw him work in Sao Paulo, Brazil during a spiritual pilgrimage led by Lewis Bostwick throughout Brazil and Peru back in the early 1990's, where we visited sacred sites and experienced healings by many indigenous healers. John used a rusty scalpel to work on a tumor-like bump on Lewis' back while we all watched. Lewis gave him a healing too, and everyone in the room got blessed or a healing from John. We knew from using our clairvoyance this was someone unique, and he had not yet come into his full powers - but would.

Since my student days in Northern California, I've had a friendship with Christina who grew up in Rio. We've often discussed my going back to visit Brazil with her on her annual visits, but the timing never seemed right. The subject of John of God would come up but we both knew very little about him over the years. Fast forward to 2005. In the fall I was feeling especially stuck on a set of pictures or energy, when one day I met Sheila who had just returned from a visit to see John of God in Brazil. Her growth period was one I could relate to, so she was eager to talk to someone who was able to understand with little explanation what she was experiencing after her series of healings with John. We became fast friends. In talking with Sheila and hearing her stories, I knew that the reason for my longing to return to Brazil was to see John of God for a healing. Yet something was off, and I felt no interest in signing up for a trip back to Brazil, even though I knew I would go see him. I wished for this healing and left it at that. Boom, the next week I saw the notice that he was going to be in Atlanta! I immediately signed up and notified a few students of this opportunity. Jack had just had a reading and was ready for a change. Regardless of whether others went or not, I knew I would run into people I knew. Who was the question.

As I arrived in the taxi from the airport, Jack, who drove from Delray Beach, was walking up to the hotel door having just arrived too. Uncanny. I wheeled my baggage into the lobby to check in and there was Phil, a former bishop from my church in California, walking into the lobby. His girlfriend Sharon, whom I know, had travelled with him. Double, triple uncanny! What are the chances that we'd all converge at the same moment plus be staying in the same hotel? To say the least we four figured out logistics, sat in a group, and got most of our healings together.

Each of us reported different sensations and effects of the healings from John of God, but all of us found the experience profound. As I write this I can say my experiences around my own personal healing were physically real. Enough so that a glass of blessed water sitting next to my bed exploded one night, leaving the bedding wet but no glass pieces. All this happened as I was "pushed" out of bed onto the floor by some entity. My body has felt discomfort around the area where John worked that's slowly subsided. And almost 40 days later I am still releasing energy.
